Last week, we were affected by a couple large tornadoes and our employees houses suffered heavy damage, so please be patient with tickets and shipping. We just returned to the office this week, but will be in/out to deal with insurance and repairs.

FAQs

Is this a smart switch?

No, this is not a smart switch. This is a, "dumb" switch that works with your Inovelli smart switch in multi-way (3-Way, 4-Way, 5-Way, etc) setups.

Which smart switches does this Aux switch work with?

This Aux switch works with all Inovelli smart switches except the First Gen switches (NZWxx). In addition, these will work with any smart switch that supports an Aux style switch (HomeSeer, Jasco/GE/Honeywell).

What are the benefits of the Aux switch?

The benefits of the Aux switch are as follows:

  • Allows dimming (or speed control) at both ends of the multi-way (if used with a dimmable or fan speed smart switch)
  • Allows for multi-taps at both ends of the multi-way (see "multi-tap compatible switches" FAQ)
  • Less expensive than buying another smart switch for your multi-way
  • Matches your Inovelli smart switches
Which smart switches support multi-taps from the aux switch?

The following smart switches support multi-taps from the aux switch:

  • Any switch that starts with VZM (ie: VZM31, VZM35, etc)
  • Any switch that starts with VZW (ie: VZW31, VZW33, etc)
  • Any switch that starts with VTM (ie: VTM31, VTM35, etc)

First Gen (NZWxx) and Second Gen (LZWxx) switches do not support multi-taps from the auxiliary switch.

Can you have different multi-tap scenes from the aux switch than your smart switch?

Yes, you can set up a different scene on your aux switch than your smart switch if you have a compatible smart switch. For example, you can set a double-tap on your aux switch to turn on your movie lights and a double-tap on your smart switch to turn on your smart TV.

Please note that you must turn on Parameter 123 on your smart switch via your hub for this feature to work.

Compatible switches are as follows:

  • Any switch that starts with VZM (ie: VZM31-SN, VZM35-SN, etc.)
  • Any switch that starts with VZW (ie: VZW31-SN, VZW33-SN, etc.)

First Gen (NZWxx) and Second Gen (LZWxx) do not support this feature.

Thread/Matter switches (VTMxx-SN) do not support this feature yet. Once hubs support this, we will add it via an OTA update.

Do you need a neutral wire?

No, this switch does not need a neutral wire to work.
